Collegeville Rubber Ducky Regatta Spots Running Out

Ducks are running out – only 100 are left for purchase, which means more than 1,000 will be floating down the Perkiomen Creek on Saturday.

 

There are only two days left to purchase a spot in the Collegeville Economic Developmen Corporation's first-ever Rubber Ducky Regatta, to be held Saturday at the Perkiomen Bridge Hotel at 2 p.m. fun, food and games will be available for the family from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Each duck costs $5, and all participants are given a decorative souvenir duck to keep. On race day, plain ducks with numbers, corresponding to each participant, will be dropped into the river. Prizes will be given out to the top 30 duck owners – grand prize is a $50 Visa gift card.

Businesses selling the ducks are also competing for the coveted Golden Duck, which ill be given to the highest selling shop around town. Current leaders are My Friend’s Tavern, Groomingdales, Main Street Nutrition and DaVinci’s.  You can also purchase ducks at any of the following locations:

The event will offer much more than a duck race on Saturday, which is sponsored by Meridian Bank – there will be food, including a pig roast, from local vendors, and live music and performances from the Dance Depot.

Perkiomen Bridge Hotel owner Tom Crawford will also be on hand to discuss plans to the hotel, and other community groups, such as the Collegeville Fire Company, will showcase their wares.
