75 Years In Prison For Man Who Fatally Shot Philly PD Sergeant

PHILADELPHIA — The man who shot and killed a Philadelphia Police sergeant during the execution of an arrest warrant in 2020 was sentenced to decades in prison Wednesday, federal authorities said.
United States Attorney David Metcalf said Hassan Elliott, aka “Haz,” 26, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 75 years in prison, five years of supervised release, and a special assessment of $2,500 for the fatal shootings of Philadelphia Police Sergeant James O’Connor.
Elliot pleaded guilty in January to racketeer influenced corrupt organization conspiracy, drug trafficking conspiracy, causing the death of O’Connor by firearm, and multiple drug, gun, and violent offenses.

Elliott's sentence also includes the killings of Kaseem Rogers, Tyrone Tyree, and Dontae Walker, as well as numerous other crimes stemming from his participation in a violent drug trafficking organization known by several names, including “SG1700” and “L-Block,” which operated in the Frankford section of Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.
Elliott, along with Khalif Sears, aka “Leaf” and “Lil Leaf,” 23, Kelvin Jimenez, aka “Nip,” 34, and Dominique Parker, aka “Dom,” 34, all of Philadelphia, were charged in March 2023 with conspiracy to engage in a RICO, violent crimes in aid of racketeering, to include murder, stemming from the killings of victims Rogers, Walker, Tyree, and Sergeant O’Connor, and numerous related offenses.

On March 13, 2020, Elliott, Sears, and others previously indicted were inside a stash house on the 1600 block of Bridge Street. O’Connor and other members of the Philadelphia Police Department SWAT team showed up with an arrest warrant for Elliott for the March 2019 murder of Tyree.
As O’Connor and other officers climbed the staircase to the residence's second floor, they repeatedly announced their presence.
Authorities said that's when Elliott fired a semiautomatic assault rifle 16 times, striking and killing O’Connor.
Sears also pleaded guilty in January to the same charges as Elliot
Jimenez and Parker were convicted at trial in March of all charges against them, including racketeering conspiracy, drug trafficking conspiracy, maintaining a drug-involved premises, assaults in aid of racketeering, firearms offenses, and related crimes. Jimenez was also convicted of the murder of Rogers, and Parker of the murder of Walker.
Sears, Parker, and Jimenez will be sentenced at a later date.
