8 Shot After July 4 Celebrations In Philadelphia

A shooting at a South Philly lounge early Saturday resulted in eight people being hospitalized and the establishment being forced to close.

PHILADELPHIA — A mass shooting hurt eight people just hours after Independence Day celebrations wrapped up in Philadelphia.

The shooting happened at 3:54 a.m. Saturday at 7 Elements Restaurant Bar and Lounge, 1100 Washington Ave.

Police said officers were called to the establishment for a report of a shooting that happened after a fight on the establishment's balcony.

  • a 25-year-old female, gunshot wounds to the right arm and left hip;
  • a30-year-old male, shot in the right buttock and left arm;
  • a 28-year-old male, shot in the left knee;
  • a 27-year-old female, shot in the left buttock;
  • a 43-year-old male security guard, shot in the groin;
  • a 42-year-old male, shot in the chest and right arm;
  • a 43-year-old male security guard, shot in the left arm;
  • and a 25-year-old female, shot in the leg.

All were taken to hospitals, where they were last listed in stable condition.

NBC10 reports the establishment had its business license revoked by city officials due to violations found after the shooting. According to Action News, those violations included improper smoking permits for the establishment, after hours and gambling.
