Fire Rages At Vacant West Philadelphia Church Monday Morning

A fire broke out at Greater White Rock Baptist Church in West Philly early Monday morning, drawing dozens of firefighters and apparatuses.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia firefighters battled a blaze at a vacant West Philadelphia church early Monday morning.

The fire started at about 3:40 a.m. at Greater White Rock Baptist Church on the 5500 block of Market Street, according to the Philadelphia Fire Department and Action News.

The fire was raised to two alarms before crews managed to get the fire under control by about 5:08 a.m.

According to Fox 29, the fire brought more than 70 firefighters and more 30 apparatuses to the scene, and at least 10 people in nearby properties were displaced.

No one was hurt.
