  1. Four Philadelphia-area schools were ranked among the top 100 colleges in the U.S. by Forbes. The University of Pennsylvania came in at No. 10 on the list, dropping one spot since last year. Swarthmore College, Villanova University, and Bryn Mawr College, private schools in Greater Philadelphia, ranked among the top 100 schools at No. 38, No. 94, and No. 95, respectively. 2. A gas leak caused evacuations at a Philadelphia apartment complex, authorities say. On Wednesday night, emergency crews were called to the Mendela Apartments on the 7000 block of North Broad Street around 7:30 p.m. According to officials, there were high carbon monoxide readings inside the building due to unknown causes. The high readings caused more than two dozen adults and seven children to be displaced for the night, but the fire department says everyone found temporary shelter. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
