JoAnne Epps, Late Temple President, Services Set For Next Week

Acting Temple University President JoAnne A. Epps will be laid to rest next week, with services planned at the Liacouras Center Friday.

PHILADELPHIA — Temple University's acting President JoAnne A. Epps will be laid to rest next week after suddenly falling ill and dying earlier this week. She was 72.

A celebration of Epps' life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at the Liacouras Center, 1776 North Broad St. in Philadelphia.

Viewings will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sept. 29, also at the Liacouras Center.

Complimentary parking will be available in The Liacouras Center Garage and the 15th Street Lot.

Epps was appointed as acting president in April and was the dean of Temple University Law School.

She served the Temple community for more than 30 years, according to the school.

"There is no doubt this is a significant loss, but Temple University is a special and resilient community," the school said in an announcement. "We will rally together to continue the university’s mission and move Temple forward, just as our remarkable friend and colleague President Epps inspires us to do."

Details of Epps' death have not been released.
