3 Killed, 10 Injured In Eastern PA Mass Shooting: Latest Details

The gunfire erupted early Monday morning on the 1500 block of South Etting Street, striking more than a dozen people, three fatally.

PHILADELPHIA — An early Monday morning mass shooting in Philadelphia put a deadly cap on the Independence Day weekend celebrations.

The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. on the 1500 block of South Etting Street, according to Fox 29.

Police were called to that area, where a few dozen people were gathered, for a report of gunfire. When they arrived, they found 13 shooting victims at the scene, NBC10 report.

Three of those people died. Eight others, including two juveniles, were taken to hospitals for treatment, according to Action News. The outlet reported the deceased victims were three men, ages 19, 23 and 24.

Authorities believe more than 70 shots were fired from more than one weapon. What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

At least one person with a weapon was taken into custody, but it's unclear how they were involved in the shooting, if at all.

This incident came on the heels of another mass shooting that happened early Saturday morning at a South Philadelphia lounge.
