Parking Rates Going Up In Center City Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Parking Authority will raise parking rates in Center City July 1 to help alleviate congestion and promote vehicle turnover.

PHILADELPHIA — Come July, Philadelphia residents and visitors may think twice about driving into Center City.

And that's because the Philadelphia Parking Authority is raising parking rates.

According to the PAA, the hourly parking rate ill change from $3 to $4 per hour on Arch Street to Locust Street, and from Fourth Street to 20th Street.

Additionally, the hourly parking rate will change from $2.50 to $3.50 per hour on Spring Garden Street to Bainbridge Street, and from the Schuylkill River to the Delaware River, save for the streets mentioned above.

These new rates will go into effect July 1.

Officials said this change aims to ;promote parking turnover, and alleviate congestion in one of Philadelphia’s most heavily congested areas.

This marks the first increase in meter parking rates in more than 10 years.
