- In the first official weekend of fall, 20 people were shot in Philadelphia, including a 2-year-old boy. In total, 16 of the 20 suffered injuries, and four people were killed. While these were individual incidents, many in the community continue to worry about the rise in gun violence. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
- On Saturday, Oct. 1, Philly AIDS Thrift will host its 17th anniversary block party, a much-beloved annual event involving a day of family fun. The party also kicks off the Halloween season and will feature fall festival activities. This is the first time the organization will host the event since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The celebration will include live music and bands, food trucks, a celebrity dunk tank, carnival games, craft/vintage vendors, a pie-eating contest, and more. (MyChesCo)
- The Philadelphia International Airport was rated as the worst large airport for customer satisfaction according to the J.D. Power's 2022 North American Airport Satisfaction Survey. Six factors determined rankings, including terminal facilities, airport arrival/departure, baggage claim security check, check-in/baggage check and food, beverage and retail.
