PHILADELPHIA — As AFSCME District Council 33 enters its second week of a strike, a judge has ordered more of its members back to work.

According to NBC10, a judge approved an injunction requested by Philadelphia to have eight emergency dispatchers for Philadelphia International Airport's 311 system return to work.

The eight are to return to work at the airport by 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, and should they not show up, the city can select additional workers until eight dispatchers are working, Action News reports.

This is the second such injunction issued related to the strike that began July 1 and includes sanitation workers, Street Department repairs and maintenance crews, L&I enforcement officers, and Department of Revenue workers, among others.

On the second day of the strike, a judge ordered employees at Philadelphia's 911 center back to work.

Additionally, that court order mandated workers at essential Philadelphia Water Department facilities return to full performance of work duties.

Last week's order does not prevent staff from lawfully participating in the strike during off-duty hours.
