Philly Has One Of Nation's Best DMV Offices, Analysis Says

PHILADELPHIA — Some things are simply universally loathed.

Sitting in traffic, root canals, getting the wrong food order, having to retype in everything listed on your resume on a digital job application... the list goes on.

One of those abhorred aspects of life is visiting the department of motor vehicles for whatever reason.

However, an analysis of Google reviews for DMV offices, and for our purposes PennDOT offices, shows one of the best DMVs in the nation is here in Philadelphia.

Website SudokuBliss.com examined Google reviews from the 30 most populated cities in the United States, focusing on the first 10 DMV results in each city.

The analysis was limited to DMV reviews with a rating of 3 stars or less, ensuring a focus on critiques of long waits. Reviews that included "long," "slow," "wait," "bad," "horrible," "terrible," “delay,” “crowded,” “packed,” and “inefficient” were also factored in.

The number of reviews with those keywords was divided by the total number of reviews a particular DMV has to generate a ranking that shows which locations struggle the most (and least) with long waits and negative experiences.

With all that in mind, the PennDOT office at 2904 S 70th St. in Philadelphia was the No. 3 rated DMV office in the nation, according to the results.

Conversely, the PennDOT office at 919 B Levick St. in Philadelphia was ranked No. 14 on the list of DMV locations with the most complaints. Nearly 75 percent of reviews for this location are negative, the analysis shows.

Overall, Philadelphia ranked No. 5 in terms of the best DMV locations in the nation.
