High Winds, Heavy Rain Possible As Severe Storms Enter Philly Area: NWS
Forecasters issued a severe thunderstorm warning, saying this line of storms could bring 60 mph winds, heavy rain and quarter-sized hail.

PHILADELPHIA — Strong storms with torrential rains and winds of up to 60 miles per hour are likely in Philadelphia and some surrounding communities on Saturday evening, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:15 p.m. for Philadelphia and Delaware County, as well as southeastern Montgomery County and southeastern Bucks County.
Severe thunderstorms were spotted at around 6:16 p.m. "along a line extending from Newtown Square to Chester Township to Newport, moving east at 40 miles per hour," per the NWS.

Forecasters said "torrential rainfall" is expected with this line of storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Quarter-sized hail and strong wind gusts are also possible.
"In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms," NWS officials said. "Move indoors immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning."
