Son Fatally Shot Mom's Boyfriend During Domestic Incident: Philly Police

A 23-year-old man fatally shot his mother's boyfriend Sunday night during an argument that led to a physical fight, then a shooting.

PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia are looking for a man they said fatally shot his mother's boyfriend during an argument over the weekend.

The shooting happened at about 9:29 p.m. Sunday on the 1500 block of North Gratz Street.

Officers were called to that block and found a 42-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest, back, and leg.

The man, identified as Direll Skipworth, was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:54 p.m.

Authorities learned the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident between Skipworth and his girlfriend, who happened to the alleged gunman's mother.

Police said the couple were arguing when her son, 23, got involved and started fighting with Skipworth.

The son eventually shot Skipworth, police said.

He then ran from the scene before police showed up.

No arrests have been made.
