'Superman' Starring Philly Native Hits Theaters
David Corenswet — Superman himself — grew up in Philadelphia, attended the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr and the University of Pennsylvania.

PHILADELPHIA — James Gunn's new film "Superman" is out today, and the comic book flick starring a Philadelphia native is getting rave reviews.
"Superman" is boasting an 83 percent "fresh" rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. And, audience have said it's 95 percent "fresh" on the same platform.
That is, in large part, due to lead actor David Corenswet.

Corenswet stars as Clark Kent/Superman alongside Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Skylar Gisondo (Jimmy Olson), among many others.
The 32-year-old grew up in Philadelphia, attended the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr and the University of Pennsylvania.

After attending UPenn, Corenswet earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Juilliard.
Corenswet has appeared in shows such as "House of Cards," "The Politician," and "Hollywood."
His film career includes "Pearl," Look Both Ways," and "Affairs of State."
"Gunn did very well, and David Corenswet may very well be the second greatest actor to don the cape of Superman," one reviewer said on Rotten Tomatoes.
"David brings his charm and charisma to the man of steel," another said.
Someone called Corenswet's Superman a "beacon of hope."
