TV Host, Comedian John Oliver Plans New Year's Eve Show In Philly

The award-winning comedian and host of HBO's "Last Week Tonight" is coming to Philadelphia for a New Year's Eve performance.

PHILADELPHIA — Emmy and Writer’s Guild Award-winning writer and comedian John Oliver is hosting a special performance on New Year's Eve in Philadelphia.

The host of HBO's "Last Week Tonight" will perform Dec. 31 at The Met Philadelphia as part of his "John Oliver Live" tour.

Tickets will be available starting with local presales beginning on Wednesday. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale, which begins at 10 a.m. Friday.

"Last Week Tonight" has won a whopping 23 Primetime Emmys, five Writer’s Guild Awards, and numerous other accolades.

Olive was a correspondent on The Daily Show and won three Primetime Emmys for his writing on the show from 2006 to 2013. He serves as the show's guest host for a two-month period in 2013.

As an actor, Oliver voiced the character Zazu in Disney's "The Lion King" (2019) and had a recurring role in the NBC sitcom, "Community." Other notable film and television credits include "Big Mouth," "Wonder Park," "The Detour," "Bob's Burgers," "Danger Mouse," "The Smurfs," "The Smurfs 2," and "Rick & Morty."
