Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:
- Giving back to the community could soon give you a tax credit in return. The Philadelphia City Council is considering a proposal which would offer a tax credit for volunteer work. If approved, the bill would allow those who perform community service to receive a credit of up to $1,000 annually, or five dollars per hour for each hour worked. (WHYY)
- A man has been arrested after allegedly raping a woman in Rittenhouse Square early Friday morning. Authorities say the suspect, a 6'6" male in his 40s, was spotted panhandling at the corner of 18th and Walnut Streets before assaulting a 27-year-old woman who was walking home from a bar. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit at (215) 685-3251. (PhillyVoice.com)
- A popular culinary tradition returns to Philadelphia for Hispanic Heritage Month. Dine Latino Restaurant Week will run from Sep. 19-23 across nearly two dozen Latino-owned eateries in the Philadelphia area. Click here for a full list of events and participating restaurants. (WPVI-TV)
