Warming Centers Open Across Philadelphia Amid Figid Temperatures
The total number of individuals who have accessed a Warming Center is at least 1,005 people since they opened Monday, officials said.
PHILADELPHIA — With frigid temperatures plaguing the Philadelphia region, Philadelphia officials have enacted a Code Blue cold weather emergency, opening up Warming Center across the city.
Due to the extremely cold conditions, the Office of Homeless Services (OHS) declared a Code Blue on Thursday until further notice. During this time, the city is implementing special measures to keep people who are homeless safe. If you see someone who needs shelter, call 215-232-1984.
Currently, several Warming Center locations are open to residents looking to stay warm. Warming center locations can be subject to change as this new initiative continues to be implemented.
