$941K Grant Awarded To Improve Route 23 Intersection in Phoenixville

The work is expected to begin this spring and be complete in the fall of 2023.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — PennDOT has awarded a $941,319 contract to improve traffic congestion at the intersection of Route 23 and Starr Street.

The contract was awarded to Marino Corporation, Skippack, to construct a left-turn lane from eastbound Route 23 to Starr Street to increase traffic flow and reduce congestion.

The work is expected to begin this spring and be completed in the fall. The project is financed by federal funds.

State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, a Chester County Democrat representing District 157, said the congestion is significant during rush hour.

“Adding a dedicated turn lane and modernization will greatly improve safety for drivers and pedestrians, and I thank PennDOT for this grant so we can continue to improve our communities,” Shusterman said.
