Audience Gets Hypnotized In New Comedy Show Coming To Phoenixville
The distinctive performance creates art out of two seemingly disparate practices.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A unique form of improvisational comedy that involves audience members being hypnotized is coming to the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville.
The Hyprov "Yes, It's Real" tour reassures the audience that what they just read does in fact happen. Duo Colin Mochrie and Asad Mecci will arrive in the Steele City on Dec. 19.
"We are so excited to continue this new tour and return to some of our favourite cities and visit some new ones," Asad Mecci shared in the tour announcement. "It’s been an incredible journey.”

During the show, Mecci serves as the master hypnotist while Mochrie, a veteran of "Whose Line is it Anyway?" steers the comedic direction.
Twenty volunteers from the audience come up on stage to be hypnotized by Mecci, and the most "responsive" of those volunteers help Mochrie perform the rest of the show.

Organizers described the show as "one-of-a-kind fusion of hypnosis and improv, two art forms that have long mystified and entertained fans, skeptics, and everyone in between."
Hyprov began at the Second City location in Toronto in 2016. The tour quickly expanded globally, and the duo has visited more than 60 cities in North America in the past year alone, including stops at Harrah's in Las Vegas and Off Broadway in New York City.
The Phoenixville show will begin at 8 p.m. on Dec. 19. For tickets and more information, see here.
