WEST CHESTER, PA — A 58-year-old East Coventry man was sentenced this week to 35 to 70 years in state prison after being convicted by a jury in July on multiple counts of rape of a child from ages eight to 15.

Eugene Weiss Jr. was sentenced by Judge Nicole R. Forzato on charges rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and aggravated indecent assault.

Chester County detectives said a 35-year-old woman reported in January 2021 that she was abused as a child by the defendant when she was between the ages of 8-15 years old and Weiss was between the ages of 28 to 36.

The victim told police that the abuse occurred regularly at the defendant’s residence and in his vehicle.

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said the survivor came forward decades later and was able to obtain justice with the help of the county detectives, Assistant District Attorney Zachary Yurick, and the Chester County Crime Victims’ Center.

“The defendant engaged in a devastating pattern of depravity against an innocent and defenseless child, and he robbed her of a healthy childhood,” Ryan said. “Her bravery is remarkable. Now the defendant will never be able to harm another child again with this lengthy sentence.”
