Phoenixville Dogwood Festival Begins This Week
Carnival rides will be running all week at Reeves Park, leading up to Saturday's Dogwood Festival Parade.
Monday begins the annual week when Phoenixville goes to the dogwoods. Starting today, Reeves Park hosts the Dogwood Festival, inviting visitors to enjoy carnival rides and fairground fun each night, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Friday. The entire festival is organized by the Phoenixville Jaycees, which has held the event since 1952.
The weekday fun is the buildup to a full Saturday of excitement, with Reeves Park open from noon to 10 p.m. One of the biggest attractions of the annual festival is the Dogwood Parade, which is held every year on Armed Services Day. The parade, sponsored this year by Freedom Valley YMCA, kicks off on Saturday at 1 p.m. and ends at the Festival. Keep a lookout for this year’s Dogwood Queen, Madison Denton, who was crowned a couple weeks ago.
It’s one of the most anticipated festivals of the year in Phoenixville. This is the 72nd year for the festival, which has run for several different lengths of time over the years.
