Phoenixville Borough Council Primary Winner Determined
Results are in for the borough council primary race in Phoenixville.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Koretta K. McGhee has unseated incumbent Richard Mark Kirkner in the Democratic borough council primary for the North Ward, according to unofficial Chester County election results.
With all precincts reporting Tuesday night, McGhee held a commanding 275 to 88 lead.
McGhee had been endorsed by the Phoenixville Democrats.

Additional votes have been tabulated and McGhee holds a commanding lead:
- McGhee: 139
- Kirkner: 46
8:59 p.m.
McGhee holds the early lead, but only some mail-in ballots have been counted, and no precincts in Phoenixville have reported.
- McGhee: 66
- Kirkner: 37

The latest results will be listed below as they come in. As of 8:25 p.m., Chester County Voter Services still had not yet counted any precincts, which is a slower response than typical election year.

Polls are closing around Chester County and throughout Pennsylvania, and results will soon be coming for one of the only closely contested primary races in Phoenixville.
The borough council has a seat for the North ward up for grabs, and two Democrats are competing in the primary for the chance to win the seat in the fall's general election.

Koretta McGhee has earned the endorsement of Phoenixville Democrats. A Temple University graduate and entrepreneur, she has an MS in Innovation and an MBA in Strategic Management,
Her campaign sites lists "12 Years of active involvement in our schools, Girl Scouts, and local organizations," and promises "an innovative, engaged, and inclusive community."
She's competing against the incumbent Richard Mark Kirkner, who serves on the finance, policy, and pension board committees, as well as the Phoenixville Regional Planning Commission. Kirkner has served multiple terms on the council and works as a healthcare journalist.
