Phoenixville's Phlight of the Phoenix Bar Tour Called a Success (UPDATED)

Area establishments were packed for much of the day; organizer vows next edition will be "even more over-the-top"

The Phlight of the Phoenix Bar Tour, an organized tour of Phoenixville’s drinking establishments, took place Saturday afternoon and night, and has been proclaimed a success by one of its organizers.

“All of our businesses were extremely busy from almost the beginning of the event until we all closed for the day,” Kellina Holt, director of sales and marketing for Black Nut Winery, one of the participating venues, said.

In addition, the lineup for the day included The Barrel by A’Dello Vineyard and Winery, Bluebird Distilling, Iron Hill Brewery and Stable 12 Brewery. Holt said the exact amount of participants was still being determined.

“In many ways, the event exceeded our expectations because we only gave ourselves a little more than a month of promotion time and we had such a wonderful turn out. But it’s also motivated us to make the next one even more over-the-top,” Holt added. “The best part was that it challenged people to try things that may have been out of their beverage comfort zones, and they definitely seemed to enjoy it. Overall it was a great day for local craft beer, wine & spirits.”

“The Phlight of the Phoenix was incredible,” Kevin Love, GM of the Iron Hill Brewery, said. “Completely surpassed our expectations for us. We were one of the last ones to join the Phlight and we are very thankful we did.”

Love added that the venue’s bar area was packed from 12 to 10, and that the restaurant did 15 to 20 percent more business than on a typical Saturday.

The Phlight of the Phoenix Tour invited participants, between noon and 11 p.m., to visit each bar, and receive a T-shirt upon completion of the tour. Daily News beverage columnist Joe Sixpack last week touted the tour and Phoenixville’s rising nightlife scene.
