Power Still Out For 4,857 Chester County Residents: PECO
Friday's sleet and wind resulted in more than 10,000 outages in Chesco. By 7:15 p.m. outages were cut by 50 percent, PECO reports.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA —A total of 4,857 customers were still without power at 7:15 p.m. Friday in the wake of a rainy, icy mixture that started this morning.
At the highpoint this morning, there were 10,629 customers without power.
The outages are scattered throughout the entire 759 square-mile county.

The weather forecast calls for temperates at 10 degrees and wind gusts around 22 mph. The accumulation is predicted at less than 1 inch, according to Accu-Weather, based in State College, Centre County.
Police reported traffic incidents on highways and road throughout the county.

During the evening rush, traffic was backed up westbound on Route 422 following a crash at Royerford Road and Route 29.
A hit-and-run crash was reported at 4:50 p.m. at Eagle Boulevard, Uwchlan Township
Other accident locations include:
- West Chester Pike and North Five Points Road, West Goshen Township;
- East Lincoln Highway and North First Avenue and Belmont Street and South Sixth Avenue; both in Coatestville; Madison Street and East Eighth Street
- Spencer and North Fairfield roads, Easttown;
- Conestoga and Byers Road, Chester Springs;
- Evergreen Street and Prospect Avenue West Grove;
- Bridge and Gay streets, Phoenixville and Bateman Drive and Blackrock Road
- Allerton and Lucky Hill roads, East Bradford Towbship;
- Charlestown Road and County Lane, Charlestown.
- Caln Road and Olive Street; East Caln Township
- Warren Avenue and Davis Road, Willistown Township.
On Saturday, the high temperature is expected to be 17 degrees, with a low at 13 degrees.
Here are the areas where there are more than 100 outages were still report at 7 p.m. in Chester County:
- Charlestown: 269
- East Bradford: 302
- East Brandywine: 123
- East Goshen: 391
- London Britian: 135
- Tredyffrin: 495
- West Goshen: 240
- West Pikeland: 329
- Westtown 682
- Willistown: 318
Other municipalities scattered throughout the county reported less than 100 customers affected.
Safety tips from PECO:
- Don't light candles; they could start a fire.
- Don't use a gas cooking range for emergency heating; it could build up deadly carbon monoxide fumes.
- Turn off or unplug electronic equipment and appliances.
- Always use a metal screen over fireplace openings and clear the hearth of any materials to catch flying sparks.
- Generators should only be used outside in well-ventilated, dry areas, away from air intake into the home. Never use a generator inside your home or in an attached garage. See “Use Generators Properly” for more information.
- Stay away from fallen or low-hanging wires or anything they touch. Call PECO at 1-800-841-4141 to report wire emergencies. If wires fall on your vehicle, do not touch the wires or the vehicle.
