Five Things You Need to Know This Week
Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. One Book, Every Young Child
Spend some time with the children in your life, and take part in Pennsylvania's One Book, Every Young Child early literacy initiative at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1 at the Northern Tier Library in the Richland Center.
Suzanne Bloom, author and illustrator of The Bus for Us, will visit the library to read and talk about her picture book. For more information, click here.
2. Free Movies at Kean Theatre
Kean Theatre in Richland kicks off its free movies in May with a 2 p.m. showing of Unstoppable on Tuesday, April 30. There also is a free showing of We Bought a Zoo at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 1.

Donations are accepted at the event. Those who donate will be entered into a drawing for a special gift. For more information call 724-444-5326.
3. Pine Recycle Rama
Pine will hold this recycling event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in the municipal center parking lot, located at 230 Pearce Mill Road.

The items that will be collected include appliances, athletic wear, bicycles, books, CDs, electronics, scrap metal, paper products and more.
All parties have the right to refuse items that are not acceptable for recycling. For questions, call Kathryn at (724) 625-1636, Ext. 122.
4. Mother’s Day Card Making
Moms always treasure handmade gifts. Why not surprise your mom this Mother’s Day with a card you’ve made yourself?
Kids ages 4 and older are invited to the Northern Tier Library for a card-making workshop from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4.
Scrapbooker Linda Joseph will be on hand to lend her expertise. A fee of $3 will be charged for materials. Registration is required at 724-449-2665.
5. Cinco De Mayo
There are plenty of ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, May 5.
Enjoy the outdoor “beach” at Cabana Bar at the Oxford Center in Pine, which opens for summer on Sunday, or pick up a margarita at the Cinco de Mayo celebration being held all weekend at Patron Mexican Grill along Perry Highway.
