Pine-Richland Senior Earns Scholarship in Edgar Snyder ‘Words to Be Heard’ Contest

Pine-Richland High School senior Matthew Clark has earned second place in the 2013 Edgar Snyder “Words to be Heard Scholarship.”

He received a $2,500 scholarship for his winning piece.

Clark, who will be attending the University of South Carolina this fall, wrote and performed a rap song discouraging drinking and driving. 

His entry was one of seven winners out of more than 300 entries from across the state.

Participants had the option of creating videos, PowerPoint projects or websites to discourage underage drinking and driving and/or distracted driving.

The last time Pine-Richland High School had a winner was in 2010. Graduate Brad Foster earned $2,500 for his winning entry that year as a senior.
