Man Shot Outside Of Pittsburgh Hospital Emergency Room Entrance

McKEESPORT, PA — A man is in critical condition after being shot at the entrance to the emergency room parking lot at UPMC McKeesport early Tuesday.
Allegheny County police said the shooting happened shortly after 3 a.m. The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting victim was attempting to force his way into a vehicle when the shooting occurred.
Police said a UPMC police officer fired multiple shots during the incident, but it does not appear that anyone was struck by the officer's gunfire.

All individuals involved in the incident are accounted for and there is no danger to the public, police said.

“An incident involving two individuals occurred outside the Emergency Department at UPMC McKeesport. The incident escalated with shots fired and one of the individuals involved struck. UPMC Police in the ED responded swiftly to help contain the incident to the parking lot, aiding local police in apprehending the individual responsible. No one else was injured. Our Emergency Department will reopen as soon as able.
“Magee-Womens Specialty Services at UPMC McKeesport, located inside of the hospital, sustained some damage following the incident and will be closed to patients today. Patients are being contacted by the office to reschedule.”
