Pirates To Give Away Bobbleheads Of Late Pittsburgh Celebrity

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pirates will give away bobbleheads of the late Pittsburgh native and rap star Mac Miller during a game in July.
Major League Baseball announced the giveaway via social media on Thursday, and the Pirates teased the event with a video post on the team's own X site. The first 20,000 fans at the team's July 19 game against the Chicago White Sox.
The video features Pirates fans speaking about Miller's influence on their lives and contains images of the Point Breeze native's favorite haunts, such as Frick Park Market, Blue Slide Park and Jerry's Records. The video then offers a preview of the bobblehead, which features Miller wearing a Pirates jersey.

Miller was 26 when he died of a drug overdose at his California home in September 2018.
Born Malcolm James McCormick, Miller was a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School. He died barely a month after the release of the album, "Swimming," and had been scheduled to return
to his hometown to perform at the Petersen Events Center in Oakland.
