2 Pittsburgh-Area Malls To Close For Thanksgiving

Find out here which ones will be shut and when they will open for Black Friday.

PITTSBURGH, PA - For the third consecutive year, finding a parking space at Monroeville Mall and Westmoreland Mall on Thanksgiving won’t be a problem. Tennessee-based CBL Properties, which owns both, announced it again is shuttering all common areas of its malls for the holiday.

But mall department stores, theaters, restaurants and retailers with exterior entrances will have the option to open on Thanksgiving.

“Thanksgiving and Black Friday are two great American traditions," Stephen Lebovitz, CBL CEO said in a statement. "By continuing the practice of closing our centers on Thanksgiving this year, we are ensuring our customers and employees have the opportunity to celebrate to the fullest – spending Thanksgiving with family and friends and then waking up early to spend Black Friday with us."

The malls will open on Black Friday at 6 a.m.

Other malls in southwestern Pennsylvania, including Ross Park Mall, South Hills Village, The Mall at Robinson and the Pittsburgh Mills, have not yet announced plans for Thanksgiving.
