Body Found In Submerged Vehicle Pulled From Pittsburgh River

A police dive team discovered a body in a vehicle found in a river in Pittsburgh. Get the details here.

OAKMONT, PA — Police are investigating after a body was found in a vehicle Sunday in the Allegheny River near California Avenue.

Allegheny County police said that 911 was notified of the discovery at around 5:15 p.m. and that first responders requested a dive team to determine if there were human remains inside. The dive team located the vehicle and assisted with its removal and did find a body.

Police did not disclose the gender of the person found or offer an age estimate. Nor did authorities reveal how the vehicle was located.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the remains and make a cause and manner of death determination.
