1 Dead, Several Missing After Plum House Explosion: Authorities

Update, 5:15 p.m.: The scene remains active, and first responders expect to remain there for several hours, officials said late Saturday afternoon.
Several people remain unaccounted for as search efforts continue. Officials announced one death from the house explosion earlier Saturday. The Allegheny County medical examiner's office will identify the decedent according to its protocols.
The Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting residents impacted by the explosion. Allegheny County Human Services also set up a Disaster Distress Helpline. Residents can call 1-800-985-5990 or text 'TalkWithUs" to 66746.

Residents that need a place to go have been directed to Renton VFD (1996 Old Mine Rd.). The site is only for impacted residents, and others will get turned away, according to the Allegheny County government.
"Individuals are encouraged to stay away from the area unless they live there," the county government said. "There may be changes to the information contained in this release as more detail develops. Allegheny County Emergency Management, the Fire Marshal's Office, County Police and Human Services all remain on the scene to assist."

Update, 4 p.m.: One person has died, while several remain unaccounted for after the house explosion in Plum, according to reports.
Three others were injured in the explosion, according to WPXI. One person is in critical condition, while two are in stable condition, officials said.
Officials told WPXI that 25 first responders were evaluated at the scene — primarily for heat exhaustion. One was transported for a medical emergency, the news outlet said.
The Red Cross is on-scene to assist those impacted by the explosion.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said the administration is coordinating with county and local emergency responders on the scene of the explosion.
"Lori and I are praying for the families affected by the house explosion in Plum today," he said. "My administration and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency are coordinating with and supporting county and local emergency responders. As you rebuild, we will have your back."

The explosion was reported just before 10:30 a.m. at Rustic Ridge Drive and Brookside Drive. The scene remains active as of 1 p.m., with fire units from throughout the region responding.
Overall, three houses were destroyed, while at least a dozen were damaged, according to the county. Multiple people were trapped under debris when first responders arrived.
Crews are still working to extinguish nearby structures as gas lines are secured. Officials directed impacted residents to Renton VFD (1996 Old Mine Rd.).
