Plum Homeowners Facing Huge Tax Increase
Property taxes in Plum are set to skyrocket under the borough's proposed 2024 budget.
PLUM, PA — Borough homeowners haven't been hit by a property tax hike since 2017, but they are facing one now - and it's a doozy.
Council is considering a 38.7 percent increase in real estate taxes under the borough's proposed $25.1 million budget for 2024. Under the spending plan, millage would jump from 4.78 mills to 6.63 mills.
How much of a hit will that be to the wallet? Borough finance director Michael Whitco told WTAE-TV that property owners will have to pay an extra $185 for every $100,000 of assessed valuation. For a home with Plum's median assessed value of $116,700, the tax increase would be $216.
