Warmer Temperatures On the Way

Warmer temperatures are on the way after Pittsburgh experienced a record low temperature Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service in Moon Township recorded an unofficial low temperature of 19 degrees at Pittsburgh International Airport at 6 a.m., which broke the record low of 20 degrees in 1954, according to the Post-Gazette.

The high temperature is in the 50s, with the mercury hitting the 60s on Sunday. 

Here's the National Weather Service's weekend forecast for the Plum and Oakmont areas:

• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 50. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon
• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm after midnight.
• Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Light southeast wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
• Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.
• Sunday: A chance of showers after 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
• Sunday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
