AI Gun Detection Program Developed By Montco-Based Company
ZeroEyes, developed by former Navy SEALs and headquartered in Montgomery County, Pa., aims to stop shootings before they occur.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — A security company based in this Montgomery County community is hoping to be able to stop the next mass shooting before the triggerman, or woman, even gets off the first shot.
ZeroEyes, a business that is headquartered in Conshohocken and also has offices in Hawaii and Virginia, has developed a proprietary artificial intelligence platform whose goal is to detect guns.
The technology is capable of being integrated into existing security cameras and can help find guns in sensitive places, like schools, before the weapon is ever used in connection with a violent incident.

The goal is to help reduce law enforcement response time, "providing actionable intelligence, and delivering clarity — ultimately saving lives," the company boasts.
Chief Operating Officer Rob Huberty, a former Navy SEAL, told WFMZ Channel 69 News that the idea for the technology came out of the deadly shooting that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida in 2018.

"What we saw in that instance was somebody was on a security video with a gun out, exposed before a shot was ever fired, and there was an opportunity to do something about it," Huberty was quoted as saying.
Nickolas Cruz killed 17 people and wounded 17 others during the shooting in Parkland, Florida.
On Oct. 13, a jury at Cruz's criminal trial recommended life imprisonment over the death penalty.
ZeroEyes was founded four years ago by a team of military veterans, including Navy SEALs, who say they aim to effect positive change in society after witnessing and living through countless active shooter situations.
"As veterans and fathers, ZeroEyes' co-founders were compelled to develop a proactive solution to keep people safe after seeing and hearing about the mass shootings occurring in schools and other public places and the impact these have on our society," the company states on its website. "ZeroEyes draws from its over 50 years of collective military experience to provide military-grade intelligence monitoring to facilities, including schools, commercial buildings and defense sites."
The concept is simple: AI is used to actively monitor security camera feeds to detect any weapons that might be present in any given setting.
ZeroEyes' proprietary gun detection technology itself is under the trademarked branding "DeepZero," and while it offers what the business says is an added lawyer of security, "our human, military-trained monitoring is what sets us apart from others," the business states.
ZeroEyes says that human verification is "critical for A.I. platform accuracy," and the combined experience of team members is what's really key when hoping to stop the next school or workplace shooting.
"Once a threat is verified, we notify appropriate security personnel and first responders within 3 to 5 seconds," the business states. "That verification means ZERO false positives make it to our customers."
