Conshohocken Italian Bakery To Shut Down After 51 Years

The legendary bakery became a beloved fixture in the region over the past half century.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — An icon of suburban Philadelphia, Conshohocken Italian Bakery has announced it will close its doors for good after 51 years of serving the community.

The bakery, located on 79 Jones Street, did not specify a final closing date, but they said it will likely be at the end of October.

"We have personal reasons for this decision, and it did not come lightly," the bakery said in a statement. "It is now time for us as a family to be together."

The bakery has grown into a legend in Conshohocken and the surrounding communities since opening in March 1973.

"We've given you our best, and we hope it was good enough to keep those reminiscent anecdotes of Conshohocken Italian Bakery in your lives and to tell those stories of what once was, as we will continue to cherish the many memories you have given us," they added.

The bakery added that customers were welcome to come in and say goodbye to Dominic and Mike, longtime loyal employees for 51 years.

Mayor Yaniv Aronson was among numerous local residents who took to social media to say farewell to the bakery.

"Wishing the Gambone family a wonderful retirement and thanking them for all the memories and amazing food," he said.
