Conshohocken Sergeant Honored by MontCo SWAT Team

Several local law enforcement officials attended the Conshohocken Borough Council meeting on Jan. 16 to watch Conshohocken Police Sgt. Michael Connor be presented with the Central Montgomery SWAT (CMSWAT) Joseph P. Rasko “Officer of the Year” award.

“It is quite an honor to be selected for this award," said Upper Merion Police Chief Tom Nolan, who presented the award along with Team Commander Bruce Hames.

Nolan said that requirement for this is award is “the ability and commitment to raise the bar” – through strong dedication, initiative and drive, and serving as an example for fellow team members.

Connor has exemplified that behavior by identifying deficiencies within the team and taking steps to rectify, training team members and being a expert in his fields, Nolan said.

Connor, who has been with Conshohocken Police for 14 years, has been the borough’s representative to the CMSWAT team since 1999.

“These officers are highly trained, both physically and mentally to respond to life threatening and critical incidents,” The Conshohocken Police website says of the CMSWAT Team. “These officers respond to incidents that may fall outside the abilities of patrol officers during the course of their duties.

“SWAT officers respond to incidents such as hostage rescue, terrorism incidents, high risk arrests/search warrants, barricaded subjects, riots, and sniper fire.”
