Conshohocken Steel Plant To Idle, 115 Jobs Lost
Three facilities will idle, including two in Pennsylvania, with a total of nearly a thousand workers impacted.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — A titan in the Pennsylvania steel industry with a major plant in Conshohocken will "indefinitely idle" operations at three facilities, leading to around a thousand job losses during the closure.
The Cleveland-Cliffs Conshohocken facility, located on 900 Conshohocken Road along the banks of the Schuylkill River, is among the three plants that will idle, the company announced.
The Conshohocken plant has about 115 employees, according to company data. The idle will start on June 30.

While it's possible that the shut down will not be permanent, there is no sense of how long the idle will last.
In addition to the Conshohocken plant, Cleveland-Cliffs will also close its Steelton plant in Dauphin County and its facility in Riverdale, Illinois.

The closures are due to declining demand for its products, the company said in a statement, and are unrelated to President Donald Trump's tariffs, according to a WTAE report.
