Massive Geyser Shoots Into Air In Plymouth Meeting After Water Main Break

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — A massive geyser shot into the air in Plymouth Meeting on Thursday afternoon after a water main break, according to authorities and multiple eyewitnesses. Water service may be impacted throughout the area.

The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. at the Metroplex Mall just off Chemical Road and Gallagher Road.

The geyser shot into the air for about half an hour before it was shut down by 1:30 p.m., Fox29 and NBC Philadelphia reported.

Germantown Pike has been closed between Plymouth Road and Chemical Road in both directions, as well as the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Norristown exit.

Aqua Pennsylvania crews are on scene working on the issue but have no estimated time for resolution and restoration of water service to the nearby area.

It's not yet clear what caused the incident or if there was any other damage caused by the water.
