PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — Former professional football player Ricky Williams, whose career included time with the Philadelphia Eagles, visited this Montgomery County community this past weekend when he stopped at a local medical marijuana business to talk about his line of cannabis.

Williams was in Plymouth Meeting on Nov. 5 at the AYR Wellness medical marijuana dispensary to talk about his brand, widely known as 'Highsman,' which he says he developed after his own personal journey using medical marijuana to heal himself from various issues.

The 'Highsman' brand — which was aptly named by Williams, a past Heisman Trophy winner — was launched in November 2021 "to inspire greatness and promote wellness in athletes and sports fans," according to a news release about last weekend's appearance.

The brand is now available in five states, with Pennsylvania being the most recent addition.

The medical marijuana flower that is available under the brand include "Pregame," considered to be energizing and "attention-grabbing" sativas, "Halftime," which is known as a balanced and restorative hybrid strain of cannabis, and the indica strain called "Postgame," designed to promote rest and recovery.

"This brand line, more specifically marijuana, has profoundly and positively impacted my life," Williams said in a statement. "I introduced these products to break through the stigma of marijuana and improve access to those seeking to be the best versions of themselves."

The cannabis lifestyle brand is technically known as "H by Ricky Williams," but it has come to be referred to by its well-known moniker, "Highsman."

The line offers both premium quality cannabis and also a collection of apparel and accessories.

More about the business can be found here.

Williams left professional football back in 2004 but has been working on cannabis business in recent years, according to information found on the 'Highsman' website.

Williams was apparently known for his appreciation of marijuana and was even once suspended from the NFL for violating the league's drug policy, according to news reports.

Ayr Wellness, the business Williams visited in Plymouth Meeting, says it is an expanding vertically integrated, multi-state cannabis operator with various locations in the country.

"Based on the believe that everything starts with the quality of the plant, the Company's mission is to cultivate the finest quality cannabis at scale and deliver remarkable experiences to its customers every day," reads a description about the company.

During his recent visit, Williams signed autographs and merchandise and offered giveaways.
