Here's a look at how to get rid of your Christmas tree in Norristown. One thing to note: whether you're recycling your tree or leaving it to be picked up by the municipality, be sure to remove all ornaments and tinsel.

In the meantime, the time between Christmas and New Years is when most Christmas tree fires happen, according to the National Fire Protection Association. The risk remains high after the New Year. Be sure to water your tree to prevent it from drying out and becoming fire-prone.

Trees will be picked up Jan. 2 through January 12.

Whitemarsh
Trees will be picked up every Wednesday curbside by J.P. Mascaro.

Norristown
Christmas trees will be collected the week beginning Monday, Jan. 8. Call J.P. Mascaro at 1-800-432-1616 with any questions.

East Norriton
Crews will pick up trees across the township throughout January. Trees should be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of collection. More than 700 trees were collected and recycled in the township last year.

West Norriton
Christmas trees will be collected starting Monday, Jan. 1 and will be collected through January.
