Man in Pick-Up Steals Outside AC Unit, Police Say

The man allegedly loaded the air conditioning unit onto a Dodge truck and fled southbound on Joshua Road.

Whitemarsh Police said a man using a pick-up truck backed onto a Joshua Road property and stole an outdoor air conditioning unit worth about $2,000.

The incident happened on Saturday shortly before 1 p.m. in the 6300 block.

According to police, a neighbor saw a man in a newer-looking, metallic silver, 4-door Dodge Ram, with chrome wheels and a step-up assist, back into the rear of the home; the man then turned off the power to the air conditioner and placed the unit on his truck, as well as other pieces of metal from outside the house.

The truck left on Joshua Road, heading southbound toward Militia Hill Road.

A neighbor described the alleged thief as a heavy-set white man, in his mid-50s, with gray hair, police said. At the time, he was wearing a red sweatshirt with gray pants. The man was at the property for about 40 minutes, police said.
