Montco $14M Ridge Pike Project Begins
Montco officials were digging in the dirt Friday during a groundbreaking ceremony for Ridge Pike upgrades.

LAFAYETTE HILL – Montgomery County officials got their shovels out Friday morning to break ground for a $14 million project to upgrade Ridge Pike from Crescent Avenue to Philadelphia.
The project calls for improving safety and reducing congestion on Ridge Pike in Whitemarsh and Springfield townships.
Ridge Pike accommodates 30,000 vehicles daily, according to PennDOT.

Construction will begin this spring with underground utility work, and road construction will follow after the utility work is complete.
Traffic signals at Crescent and Barren Hill roads will be installed, and an eastbound through lane between Harts Lane and Northwestern Avenue will be added. Stormwater management facilities will be built as part of the project.

The county-funded road upgrade also includes a continuous sidewalk along the southwestern side of the road and consolidating SEPTA bus stops. The stops will be compliant with the federal American for Disablities Act.
“When this section of Ridge Pike is complete two years from now, it will make it easier for drivers to get around, for people to walk, and for transit riders to catch their bus,” Commissioner Valerie A. Arkoosh, chairwoman ,said.
