Montco Fire Co. Collects for West Conshy Charity

As part of its Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, the Abington Fire Co. collected items to be donated to Cradles to Crayons, a charity that helps impoverished children.

While the fire company doesn’t have an exact measurement for how much it collected, it was enough to fill two trucks for delivery to the Cradles to Crayons’ West Conshohocken warehouse. Donations included boxes of diapers, bags of children’s clothing, toys, and baby supplies.

“We collected more than we thought,” Abington Fire Co. Lt. Bob Woodard said in a press release. “Our community really came together and surprised us with their generosity. Cradles to Crayons couldn’t even believe how much we collected.”

All the items collected by the fire company were transported to the Cradles to Crayons warehouse, where they will be packaged by volunteers, and then distributed to impoverished and homeless children throughout the state.

“We were more than happy to help,” organizer and Abington firefighter Kurt Dorn said. “This was a great opportunity to bring the community together and help Pennsylvania children in need.”
