PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — Local planning officials have declined to recommend a township ordinance change that would pave the way for the conversion of a local office complex into residential apartments, according to reports.

The Plymouth Township Planning Agency unanimously voted against recommending to the township council an amendment that would have allowed Keystone Development & Investment to convert an office building it owns into a 150-unit apartment building, reports the website MoreThanTheCurve.

The report says that planners voiced worry about density on the site, the creation of additional traffic, sewer capacity and more.

The office building in question sits just next to the Plymouth Meeting Mall, a popular regional shopping destination.

Traffic is already fairly congested on the streets that surround the mall, which includes Germantown Pike, a major east-west thoroughfare that connects parts of Montgomery County to major highways like the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Interstate 476 (the Blue Route) and Interstate 76 (the Schuylkill Expressway).
