WHITEMARSH TOWNSHIP, PA — A new townhouse community is slated to soon be constructed on a piece of prime residential real estate situated along the Schuylkill River in this eastern Montgomery County municipality.

Dubbed "River Place," the planned 62-unit townhouse development is scheduled to be placed on a river-adjacent parcel in the Conshohocken section of Whitemarsh Township.

A website for the planned development says that the townhouses, a five-minute walk to the Spring Mill SEPTA train station, will have two-car garages, at least three bedrooms and optional roof decks.

Presales of the homes are expected to start sometime this spring and prices are expected to range from the mid $400ks for duplex townhomes to the mid $600ks for the traditional style townhouses.

A promotional video of the residential project has also been uploaded to YouTube.

The Gary Mercer Team at Keller Williams is the real estate agency handling the new development for the owner of the property, which is located at 901 Washington Street, and is reportedly currently in the process of being cleared for development.

The property has a Conshohocken address but is actually located in a section of Whitemarsh Township that borders the Schuylkill River.

The Philadelphia Business Journal previously reported that the $28 million development was being done in a partnership between E. Kahn Development, Vesey Capital, and Gary Toll.

Both an office building and apartment units were originally planned for the site, but the developers reportedly settled on the townhouse idea after those other plans fell through.

A link to the Philadelphia Business Journal story can be found within this article about the development.

The story says that developers saw a housing need for those young professionals in the area who wanted an option to buy real estate as opposed to renting.

The story says that the five-acre site, previously home to the paint company Finneran & Haley Inc., posed some logistical issues, as it is brownfield and required significant environmental remediation and soil stabilization.

The article also states that developers saw the site as beneficial since it is located near many major traffic arteries and is provides direct access to the Schuylkill River Trail, a recreational path enjoyed by hikers, bikers and pedestrians.
