Schuylkill Expressway Lane Closures Slated for Aug. 1 To 5
Overnight lane closures will come to Interstate 76 from Aug. 1 through 5 while crews work to remediate sinkholes.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Schuylkill Expressway in Montgomery County will experience overnight lane closures next week as road crews work to repair several sinkholes, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Thursday.
Lanes will go from two down to one in either one or both directions of Interstate 76 on Aug. 1 through 5 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. during construction activities related to remediating several sinkhole locations along the highway.
The work will be taking place along I-76 in the area of the U.S. 202 Interchange in and around Upper Merion Township and King of Prussia.

PennDOT announced that additionally, work crews will be resetting temporary barriers and performing line striping operations as part of the reopening of the left lane and expected closure of the right lane on westbound I-76 near the ramp to U.S. 202 and U.S. 422 for sinkhole repair. This will occur the night of Aug. 2 into the early morning hours the following day.
The left lane in that area has been closed since June 1 when sinkhole remediation work began in that spot. The right lane in that juncture is expected to stay closed around the clock for about two more months, PennDOT stated.

Drivers are warned to either seek alternative routes or plan for heavy traffic buildup during the stated times of road work; the Schuylkill Expressway is a notoriously jam-packed area highway that typically experiences frequent traffic problems.
