The past 2 years have made many people rethink their paths in life. Juby George was one of those people. While he loved his programming job, he had a passion for cooking. As a young aspiring chef, Juby would help his dad with his side hustle catering business before the term “side hustle” had even been coined. That love of cooking was a constant in his life. A love that eventually turned into a catering business of his own. Like father, like son. It’s a love you can feel through his cooking, according to his wife Shireen Bethala George.

The catering business permeated his entire household as Juby’s passion drew in his wife and kids. It became a family affair. What they did for fun was now a business! Fresh ingredients, slicing, chopping, sautéing, simmering, with spices in perfect combination, the 5 star restaurant aromas filled their home. And when his catering business started blowing up, Juby realized he was on to something. In those dark days, people had a real craving for a nice home-cooked meal… but fewer and fewer people wanted to actually do the “home-cooking”.

After 21 years of programming, Juby decided to really make a go of it and turn his “side hustle” into a full-time gig. As luck would have it (or when you’re truly passionate about something) an opportunity presented itself. On an outing to the Movie Tavern in Flourtown with his sons, he passed a sign at 1800 Bethlehem Pike that read, “Vendor Space Available”. The Flourtown Farmers Market? That could be interesting! Juby asked his son (and professional taste tester) to write the phone number down. Little did he know, the timing was perfect.

The new owners, Sal Lentini, Tom DiEnna and Greg Markotsis were making big improvements to the Flourtown Market inside and out, breathing new life into the community fixture of 36 years. New lights, new signs, fresh paint, new plantings, new parking lot lights, string lights out front, community events planned, advertising, active and responsive management and most importantly bringing in new, exciting food vendors with incredibly diverse offerings and loyal followings. Sal returned Juby’s call and a few days later Tom, Sal and Juby were walking around the market discussing the future of "Smell The Curry”. Big fans of Indian cuisine, Tom and Sal were excited to welcome Juby and his family to the Flourtown Farmers Market family!

In the short time since Chef Juby George hung the Smell The Curry shingle in the market, he’s been getting a lot of local press and lines have been forming for his insanely delicious dishes. And the new customers he’s brought to the market are enjoying the unique combination of dishes they can get from all of the other vendors. Juby joined 3 other new vendors: FlatBelly Veg & Smoothies, Twisted Gingers Beer and Gigi’s. Stop by and sample their tastings along with more from their established vendors: Georgina’s Mexican, Pasta Sensations, Beck’s Catering, Capt’n Chucky’s, Caspian Grille, The Cheese Trap, Flourtown Coffee and Darcy’s BBQ.

With 14 chefs & purveyors of fine foods all under one cozy roof, stop by on your lunch break or on your way home to pick up some dinner. Spread the word and go to their site to let them know what you think, what you’d like to see or how they can work together with you to become a bigger part of the Flourtown community!
