TOPSoccer Thanks Plymouth Township for Donation
The Outreach Program for Soccer, led by coach Joe Hunter, consists of young athletes with disabilities.
More than 30 players, parents and coaches from the Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPSoccer), and community-based soccer team for young athletes with disabilities, attended the Plymouth Township Council Meeting to thank the body for a $1,250 donation.
Coach Joseph Hunter, a long-time coach and leader within Colonial Soccer Club, thanked the council for the funds, which will go towards supplies such as softer balls and padded goals.

“From the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank you enough,” Hunter said, regarding the township’s support of the program.
“For everything I’ve done wrong in my life, I must have done something right to get to work with these kids,” Hunter said.

Hunter developed the program four years ago when one of the boys on the travel team he was coaching had a sister with disabilitites who wished that she could play, too.
The team started with eight players, and now 21 young athletes are involved.
TOPSoccer is a national community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers, according to the website.
“Our goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer & US Youth Soccer families,” the website says.
According to Plymouth Township Council President Sheldon Simpson, the team falls under the Colonial Soccer Club umbrella, and uses fields at the Greater Plymouth Community Center.
