PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — A tractor trailer caught fire on I-476 in Plymouth Meeting early Wednesday morning, turnpike officials said, shutting down the road for hours and backing up traffic on several area roadways.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes.

It's not clear what caused the trailer to catch fire.

Traffic was still backed up to the Schuylkill Expressway during rush hour, KYW reports.
