EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Two days after intense storms brought heavy wind, rain and even some hail to the region, things are still not back to normal for some area residents.

A look at a power outage page on PECO’s website shows many in southeastern Pennsylvania are still without electric, with a bulk of the reported outages in eastern Montgomery County.

Out of more than 300,000 people served in Montco, there were 1,482 customers still reportedly without power, as the number of outages topped 83, according to a PECO outage report as of 3:30 Friday afternoon.

The storms that blew threw Wednesday knocked down powerlines in some areas, and left significant flooding in other spots. Some local roads were closed while public works crews cleaned storm drains that had become clogged by debris that had been strewn about due to the powerful winds that accompanied the storms.

One community pool in Abington had been closed yesterday due to a power outage, and road work that was supposed to take place along the Limekiln Pike Bridge in both Abington and Cheltenham Townships was postponed by a week because of PECO outages.

Whitemarsh Township issued a post-storm road closure update around 1:30 this afternoon, saying that some areas roadways remained closed due to “severe damage” including downed trees along the Route 73 area.
